Vertical Boring

This project started with discussing replacement of a 50 year old, 50% efficient boiler. Our boiler options were competitive, but, as Mr. Jones pointed out, replacement of the boiler would only save money in the heating season, which is about five to six months out of the year. A geothermal system would save money all twelve months of the year. The tax credit was also a major factor, 30% of total install. The Jones had three systems replaced, a total of eleven tons of cooling/heating. Eleven 155 foot wells were drilled vertically to put in the geothermal systems.

Met Bruce while repairing his daughters furnace, evidently he was the most expendable person that day. During the repair he was talking to me about the log cabin he would be building, we discussed some options for the heating and cooling needs of it. Geothermal was the most economical way to heat, cool, and maintain comfort.
